September 20, 2004 -- LSI Logic Corp. announced today that Daewoo Electronics has developed its latest DVD/VCR recorder product line based on the second-generation LSI Logic DiMeNsion DVD recorder system processor, the DMN-8602.
"By leveraging the DMN-8602, we are able to continue our tradition of bringing high-quality DVD/VCR combination products to consumers," said Mr. Song Ki Min, director of Digital Video R&D Center in Daewoo Electronics. "In a single space-saving device, the DVR-S04 allows consumers to quickly and easily transfer personal content from a VHS tape to a DVD disc, preserving content for years to come."
In addition to making it easier to transfer directly from VHS tape to DVD disc, Daewoo models like the DVR-S04 include LSI Logic's Direct Digital Dub technology. Direct Digital Dub simplifies the transfer of personal digital content from a camcorder (DV or other media) to the DVD recorder over FireWire. Reducing complexity, Direct Digital Dub allows consumers to control the camcorder with one-touch via the DVD recorder remote.
LSI Logic's line of DiMeNsion DVD recorder processors consists of the first single-chip DVD recorder solutions. The high level of integration reduces design complexity and provides system designers with a considerable savings on the overall bill of materials. Additional advantages include LSI Logic's proprietary pre- and post-processing technologies, TrueView Pro and TrueScan Pro. These motion compensation-based technologies provide advanced progressive scan output and impressive noise handling on analog inputs.
