September 19, 2011 -- Coherent Logix, Inc. has announced the release of reference designs for advanced signal-processing applications in imaging and sensor markets. These reference designs are suitable for a wide range of high-volume products including smart cameras, 3D sensors, and other computational imaging products needed in commercial, industrial, and military markets.

"We expect the need for reference designs that incorporate reconfigurable low-power many-core processors to grow substantially in the coming years," stated Michael Doerr, CTO of Coherent Logix. "OEMS will benefit by this reference design, since the process of developing, integrating, and optimizing hardware and software has already been done thus allowing them to meet time-to-market objectives, and focus on applications that offer differentiation."

The challenges of providing rapidly configurable and scalable solutions are addressed by platforms based on the HyperX processor. By implementing algorithms and realizing IP in reusable C code, and leveraging the ease of configurability of many cores, the HyperX processor enables a low cost, rapid time-to-market solution that is unmatched by conventional ASIC, DSP, and FPGA-based technologies.

The HyperX with its advanced power-efficient architecture meets the conflicting requirements of software-defined design as well as low power. Co-developed with technology and market leaders in commercial, defense, and industrial sectors, the latest generation of the HyperX family of processors has been in continuous production since 2010.

Coherent Logix will demonstrate their reference designs for imaging and sensors at the Embedded Systems Conference September 26-28, and the Sensors Tech Forum October 10-12, 2011 both in Boston. The reconfigurability and advanced processing capabilities of the platform will be shown through demos such as Image warping and Hyperspectral image processing.
