The Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI) is an independent not-for-profit organization composed of a broad range of companies, universities and individuals dedicated to supporting and advancing SystemC as a de facto open source standard for system-level design. OSCI provides an interoperable, modeling platform to exchange very fast system-level C++ models and develop seamless tool integration. OSCI also fosters the rapid growth of a global market for innovative new system-level design solutions.

SystemC is the standard design and verification language built in C++ that spans from concept to implementation in hardware and software. Designers design and verify using SystemC and standard ANSI C++. EDA vendors create tools that are automatically interoperable.

The SystemC community consists of a large and growing number of system, semiconductor, IP, embedded software companies and EDA companies. Community users can click through a web-based license agreeement, download SystemC source and proceed to use, modify or improve it - at no cost. These users can advance the standard by submitting enhancements to the SystemC community via the web and to the OSCI Steering Group. ,
